Music Programme
In alignment to the school’s vision of enriching the pupils beyond limits, Tampines Primary School seeks to develop the pupils holistically. Music education is one of the areas where pupils are given the opportunity to develop their creativity and explore their imagination. TPS adopts a 3 prong approach: “Immense, Integrate and Inspire” to design a comprehensive 6-year music programme for our pupils. Pupils will also be exposed to at least 2 learning journeys in music where opportunities will be provided for them to watch a performance or attend a music workshop outside the school.
In Tampines Primary School, we deploy specialised music teachers to carry out the music curriculum. For P1 and P2 levels, a qualified music instructor is specially employed under the Art Music Instructor Scheme to build the foundation of the young pupils in music. This includes teaching of basic music theory using various implements such as sound shapes and songs. For P3 and P4 levels, our Music Director who is a Senior Teacher in Music, Mdm Stella Goh continues to build on the foundation while exposing the pupil further to other forms of music, including appreciation for music. For P5 and P6, a qualified music instructor has been employed under the Relief Teacher scheme to teaching the pupils at learn to play at least one musical instrument.
