Character and Citizenship Development
Tampines Primary School adopted a school-wide approach in the use of HOM in the area of teaching and learning and enhancing lives of pupils through character development. For the past two years, Professor Art Costa has personally conducted training for our teachers on the effective application of HOM which had benefited both the teachers and pupils. Tampines Primary School together with the Institute for Habits of Mind (Singapore) developed a unique set of icons for the 16 individual HOM which will be employed in the classrooms.

MOE EXCEL FEST, 5th & 6th March
TPS participated in the MOE Excel Fest 2010 on the SIF Project on “Tampines, My Home”. The NE Ambassadors presented their innovation on the creation of three big books, which illustrates the history, present and future of the Tampines Town. They introduced to the participants on the process of their project that sparked off with the gathering of details from their interview with the ministers and research on the Tampines Town. Our NE Ambassadors also taught the participants the rules of the card game, which they created as an enrichment activity to the three big booksThe project was well received by both local and overseas participants. They were also impressed by the confidence showed by the ambassadors.

BLOOM@TPS is a customised package which focuses on cultivating life skills tailored to the respective academic level. It incorporates various domains such as national education, social emotional competencies, character development and career guidance. Pupils acquire these skills through active interaction and research of various issues which would assist them in handling challenges in their daily lives better.
EARLY BIRD PROGRAMME
The Early Bird Programme is carried out by the school leaders, teachers and pupils, who shares on fun, exciting and educational lessons everyday during the morning assembly. The presenters are encouraged to be innovative by using a wide variety of media resources available to make their sharing more interesting for their audience.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP
We believe that every pupil can learn and excel. Therefore, leadership opportunities are provided to every pupil of different capability. Student leaders are provided with many platforms to showcase their leadership qualities through organizing and coordinating of events such as CCA Bazzar, Head Student Leader elections, grooming of new leaders, presentation of school and NE values, etc. Student leaders at the class level are also provided with opportunity to be “Prefect for a Week” to enhance their leadership skills. The school also provides opportunities for the students to raise the flag during the morning assembly. This has helped to deepen their sense of belonging and make them proud to be a citizen.
