A group of twenty two pupils and three staff from Tampines Primary School embarked on a Confucius Hometown Cultural Tour to China, Shandong from 21^st May to 29^th May 2010; as part of our exchange programme with the Shandong University 2^nd Affiliated Primary School (SUAPS). This cultural tour provided opportunities for our pupils to be immersed in an overseas environment so as to broaden their knowledge of other cultures and also to build their character. It also provided the opportunity for our pupils to engage in a deeper study of the Chinese Language and culture.

During the trip, all pupils were given the opportunity to interact with SUAPS students and learn more about Chinese history, culture and customs. Our pupils were assigned a Chinese buddy who helped eased them into the school routine, lessons and also to familiarize them with the school environment. A half-day home visit was also arranged for TPS students to visit their buddy’s house, exchange gifts and enjoy local food.

Tampines Primary School will be welcoming pupils from our Shandong counterparts tor the exchange programme in Aug 2012. This will be the 6th year both  schools have such activities and we hoped that the friendshipbetween the 2 schools will coninue to grow from strength to strength!
